CUBIC Inc. is working in Japan with the goal of improving the quality of analysis and streamlining operations by digitizing the archeological field. CUBIC Inc. has released ruin drawing software and relic drawing software for archeology as products in Japan since 2007.
The Ruin Measurement & Drawing Software can create the drawing of ruins with high efficiency and high accuracy from the Geodetic total station and image data.
The Relic Drawing Software can create the drawing of relics from 3D laser range finder data and image data.
Both software have the processing functions based on 3D measurement technology and image processing technology, and realize high quality and high efficiency analysis of ruins and relics.
In recent years, in the civil engineering field, topographical images taken with a drone are 3D modeled by SfM software and analyzed. In 2018, CUBIC Inc. developed the MPS ‘Multi Angle Photographing System’ to create 3D models of relics using this SfM software. The MPS can efficiently take a large number of images on the entire periphery of the relic and with very few defects on the delicate surface to generate excellent 3D model .
CUBIC Inc. created 3D models of many relics with this system, and found that this 3D model is very useful for analysis. At the same time, we also found that a large number of images of the entire periphery of the relics are useful as a protection method against loss or burnout of the relics in the unlikely event of an accident. Therefore, CUBIC decided to propose this MPS to people in many institutions handling relics.
